Orlo Salon

Orlo Salon was established and launched by owner Orlando Pita in 2004 in New York City. For more than two decades, Orlando has been a leading force and fashion and beauty guru. His expertise and unmatched work has been seen on runway shows and campaigns for Prada, Dior, Valentino, Versace, Vera Wang, Fendi, Kors, Gucci, YSL, Derek Lam and much more. Orlando also garnered the prestigious honor of working with the late Yves Saint Laurent; and was one of only three to do so.

It was in October of 2004, after 20 years of working with celebrities and models for magazines, advertising and the red carpet that Orlando wanted to make himself available to the general public. The idea spawned Orlo Salon where he wanted to share what he learned throughout his career with eager hairdressers and clients alike. Orlo is much more than just a salon, and is actually attributed to more of a working studio environment. In short, stylists at Orlo Salon get the latest hair trends for use on clients, directly from (Orlando) the man that creates them!

Orlando’s sheer passion and innovation in the fashion and beauty world are seen worldwide. His contemporary style continues to be featured in Allure, Vogue (American, Italian & French), and W. In 2007, Orlando was named one of the most influential people in the world of fashion by W Magazine, and has continued to live up to that designation to this day. He’s also highly recognized for his collaborations with industry leading photographers such as Irving Penn, late Richard Avedon, Steven Meisel, Mario Testino, and Craig McDean.

Adding to Orlando’s long wrap-sheet of collaborations are celebrities and clients including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Beyonce, Madonna, Jennifer Connelly, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Lopez, and Julianne Moore to name a few.

His recognition extends farther than just hair too, as Orlando was honored in the art world. Cooper-Hewitt named Orlando under its “National Design Triennial” in 2006. The honor was linked to his innovative hairstyle which he created for Christian Dior’s Egyptian themed couture show, and was the first ever to be given to a hairstylist.

Orlando continues to be called upon and quoted in publications worldwide regarding his influential tips, views, and leading industry expertise. His acknowledgments as a driving force in beauty and fashion have even given him the opportunity to appear on a high-fashion episode of Sex and the City and as a mentor on Bravo TVs Shear Genius.
